To activate this side quest talk to Laulai in Song's Edge. Her secret drumming spot has been flooded mysteriously. Aloy will offer to help find the source of the water, much to Laulai's delight.
This quest will tkae you to the dam north of Song's Edge. It's west of the middle of The Cut. Follow the river to the dam and enter through some rubble lit by a fire. Clim up the shaft to find a control room and to hear the cries of a man in need of assistance. Scan the control room to find an audio diary, then go pry the door on the left.
Go down the stairs and use your Focus to open the door and meet the man trapped on the other side—Gildun.
Two Heads are Better than One?
Gildun is a treasure hunter with a tedency to break things. Follow him forward to a pair of valves; one on the side you are currently standing on and one across the torrent of water. Guess which one you have to turn. Fear not! This far off valve is quite easy to get to. Climb the ladder in front of you and follow the pipes through the wall to the other side. Ta da! You made it! Turn the valves with Gildun to lower the gate.
Once Gildun crosses, he'll kick down a ladder that leds to a path below. Climb down and follow the path to find a large square platform suspended in the air above the water. Run and jump to the platform and do it again for the smaller platform below. Hop across the beams jutting from the wall and scan the audio log on the other side.
Climb the ladder and leap across the gap at the top to make it back to Gildun's side. Kick down the ladder for Gildun and then climb the next ladder while Gildun stations himself at the convenient valve once again. Just like before, follow the pipes through the wall to make it to the other side. Keep an eye out for a small tunnel at the top of the first ladder that you need to crouch through to go forward.
Try and turn the valves with Gildun. This will trigger the next sequence which requires you to find the counter weight for the gate. Walk down the path from your valve to finda yellow pipe jutting out. Walk along it to leap to the dangling structure. Climb up this precarious wall to the top then jump to the small pegs to be right above the counterweight. Rappel down to lower the weight so that the gate will rise. At the bottom, use the yellow bar to cimb up to your valve and lock in the gate for Gildun. With the water low enough now, you can see the large Snapmaw that has just been chilling underwater.
Reclaiming the Water
Snipe the Snapmaw from above or jump down and get all up in its face. Either way, kill it. Harvest it for the Emitter and parts and then scan the back wall to find another audio log. Gildun will come down a set of stairs that ends near a door. Open it to find a one-off room with a pipe puzzle.
Using your Focus, You can rotate the pipes below the floor to restore the flow of water. It's a pretty straight forward puzzle. Use the pipes to keep the flow of water going forward all the way to the turbine.
With the flow restored, the door to the left will open. Inside is an audio log and "Drummer's Weapon Coil." Continue through the room to find a ladder that leads back up the main room where you fought the Snapmaw. Climb the stairs that Gildun came down earlier after you killed the Snapmaw and go back to the control room.
Once inside the control room replace the Emitter and turn each knob the correct way. The solution is on the wall to the left. From left to right, the red notches should face left, up, down, up, and right.
The door to the treasure room will open. Talk to Gildun to try and comfort him. Afterward, search the room to find an audio log as well as the power cell you need to move the quest forward. Place the newly acquired power cell in the console beneath the screen in the control room. After a short cutscene, the flow of water will be restored. All that is left is to go inspect the Overflow Basin that houses a secret drum jamming area.
Jam Sesh
Follow the river south to the basin. It will be surrounded by Snapmaws. You may either kill them all or try to sneak to the center and go down the ladder. Totally up to you. Once down the ladder, scan across the water to find an audio log then turn around to find Laulai playing her "drums." For a reward Laulai will give you three Bluegleam.
